Privacy Policy

Assistant Chef helps you keep recipes, pantry items, groceries, and related kitchen information. This policy describes data practices for the app. Please review it with the App Store privacy disclosures before publication and whenever app behavior changes.

Data the app handles

The app stores the recipes, pantry items, grocery lists, images, files, notes, and preferences you choose to add. If iCloud sync is enabled, this information is stored in your private iCloud/CloudKit account to sync across your devices. You can also use camera or photo-library input to import recipe or pantry information.

Processing and service providers

When you choose features that process an import, generate suggestions, search the web, or connect a retailer, relevant content may be sent to the service needed to provide that feature. This can include OpenAI for AI processing, search providers for search requests, and a retailer you authorize for a retailer connection. Apple processes purchase and subscription transactions through StoreKit. The specific content sent depends on the feature you choose; do not submit information you do not want processed.

Authentication and operational records

Device authentication may create records on your device or in Apple services to protect access. We may retain limited operational logs such as feature errors, request identifiers, and token or usage measurements for reliability, security, and abuse prevention. The production retention period for those records must be confirmed by the app owner before this policy is published.

Retention, deletion, and your choices

You control content stored in the app and can delete it in the app. You can turn off camera, photos, notifications, and iCloud access in iOS or iPadOS Settings. Deleting the app does not necessarily remove data held in iCloud; manage iCloud data through your Apple account settings. Third-party providers may retain data under their own policies.
